Milan, Italy – One Day Itinerary
Here are things I actually enjoyed for a perfect Day In Milan.
The Perfect Day In Milan, Italy
1. Visit Duomo
The Catholic Cathedral Duomo is a stunning, magnificent building in the middle of the plaza. The construction of the Milan Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano) started in 1386 and was ultimately finalized in 1965. I would say that the Duomo is the number one on the must-see list for Milan!
Personally, I wasn’t up for waiting in line to get a view from the rooftop, but if I ever get to Milan again, this is on my bucket list. You can purchase the tickets before which allows you to skip the lines, though, a lot of people do the same, so there might still be a short wait. Besides the majestic Duomo, the plaza is, for obvious reasons, packed with tourists and locals. It’s an excellent place for shopping, walking around, and getting a snack. If you are hungry I recommend one of the side passages as they are less visited and prices aren’t as exaggerated as in the main tourist place. I had a coffee in front of the Duomo to get a view- one of the worst drinks I had and paid around 5 euros. It was not worth it.
Note:
The Duomo is a church and you should respect the place of prayer and the people who go there, make sure to wear modest clothing or at least have a scarf with you to cover up short clothes.

2. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
Must must must see! The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is Italy’s oldest active shopping mall and one of the oldest shopping malls in the world. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is a very pretty construct made out of iron, glass, and marble. The shopping center is one of Milan’s icons and the photo spot! The shops that you can find in the shopping passage are very high class and more on the fancy side, but you don’t have to buy something to have a look and visit. You will get the best view from the middle of the passage, under a huge glass ceiling. Legend has it that spinning around three times on your heel on the mosaic bull’s… thing…will bring you good fortune 🙂 Make sure to give it a try.

3. Stroll trough the Castello Sforzesco
The Castello Sforzesco is a fort built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan. The square castle has four towers and 7-meter-thick walls and survived a planned destruction in 1893. After two restorations and restorations, the castle is now home to several museums and art collections. After your visit, you can continue your walk outside the thick walls to a huge green park. Stepping into the Castello Sforzesco feels like a journey back in time, where the echoes of the past blend seamlessly with the vibrant cultural experiences of the present.

4. Navigli
I finalized my day trip with a walk to and through Navgilis neighborhood, and it was the perfect end to a perfect day. The system connects five canals and was used to transport goods back in the day. Though the canal is inactive for trade, you can still find tour boats on the waters. Today, the canal system is one of the historic places of Milan and comes to life in the evening.
During sunset (and also after) Navigli is a great place to have Italian pasta and a glass of wine, and the sight might remind you of the Venice canals.
For all the party people: There is great nightlife on the streets and in the bars and tons of people to have fun with.
Following this guide will ensure an unforgettable day in Milan, Italy, the fashion capital and cultural hub. But remember, it’s merely a blueprint — allow yourself the freedom to explore hidden gems and uncover the city’s authentic charm, making your experience truly enchanting and breathtaking. Embrace the timeless beauty, and let Milan’s marvels captivate you during this must-see journey.
